The penultimate week of Autumn Term 1. How quickly is it going?

This week, the children have written a description of the Pompeii volcano using the four senses, as well as an Alphabet Poem based around our story! Some of the vocabulary included has been fantastic!

The children are all getting quite confident using a range of methods for addition and subtraction. Ask them to show you some; you will be very impressed!

The children were desperate to create their own Roman Mosaics and we talked about how these were effective and used as art back in those times. As well as this, the children now know lots of facts about Julius Ceaser!

Today was really fun, the whole school took part in a whole school team house marathon! It was great seeing the children from my class helping all of the younger children to run their lengths!

Well done to Ava, who won our Star of the Week this week; for going above and beyond in all of her work both in school and at home! Ava even used her lego set at home to create her own version of a Roman bath that we had learnt about in that week's Topic lesson.

Next week, we will be writing up our poems neatly and starting to research and create our own book reviews for 'Escape From Pompeii'. I will be looking for excellent use of conjunctions and pronouns!

I am also aiming to complete and perform our Roman army march dance!

I, V, X, L, C, We are the Roman Army!

Please see some videos below to help with conjunctions and pronouns, as well as addition and subtraction :)

Have a nice weekend,

Miss Green.
