Hi Everyone!

Year 5 have had a great penultimate week of Autumn Term 1!

This week, we have been looking at The Blitz and World War 2. We have focused on writing descriptions of air raid attacks during the war and how people managed to stay safe in major cities. The class have even written our own newspaper reports to desribe a Blitz attack on the city of Liverpool, with some fantastic ideas and vocabulary.

In Maths, the children are becoming more confident in developing methods to solve addition and subtraction problems. We have developed a greater understanding and are now looking to choose effective ways at answering different questions.

Today we all took part in our whole school house marathon! It was great to see everybody competing against each other in different houses to run as far as possible in the time given. We all participated really well for a great cause!

Well done to Demi, who was out star of the week this week for showing a fantastic attitude and positive mindset throughout the week and has produced some fantastic work. The children have been working hard to earn as many dojo points as possible to claim daily prizes.

Next week we will be looking into famous people from Liverpool and looking to create our own biographies. If you want a head start, it might be great to start researching to see who you can find!

Have a nice weekend,

Mr Gaskell
