15th June

Date: 15th Jun 2016 @ 3:51pm

Hi all,

Year 5 have had a fantastic start back after half term. Lots of people around school are making postive comments about them which is fantastic to hear - keep it up Year 5!

We have made an excellent start to our theme 'Born Survivor' and the children are really enjoying learning about Bear Grylls and Ray Mears. Tomorrow we will be writing biographies using the information we have found out. They have also written some brilliant descriptions. Their writing is really improving because they are beginning to think carefully about making it interesting and exciting to read as well as punctuating correctly!

In Maths, we have been practising our mental strategies for adding monetary amounts and using subtraction to find change. We have now moved on to solving word problems involving money and they have really applied their knowledge.

I am going to residential with Year 6 so will be absent Friday and Monday but I have left the children with lots of exciting project work to complete. They should be looking forward to 'Den Day' and bringing in things which might help make their den.

We are also looking forward to watching England and Wales tomorrow. Children are invited to stay and watch the second half of the match and be picked up at 3.45pm if they have permission (letter went home today).

Brilliant work Year 5. Let's keep going!

Miss Hopkins.
