7th October

Date: 9th Oct 2016 @ 6:52pm

Year 6 have been working very hard this week and they were rewarded on Friday when they got to spend some time with their new buddies. It is fantastic to see how caring the Year 6 children are and I know that they will all make fantastic buddies this year!

On Monday, we had a residential meeting and it great to see so many children interested and excited about our residential at the end of the year. Letters regarding payment and confirming details will go out on Monday (thank you for your patience). It would be great if these could be returned as soon as possible with initial deposits paid so we can send it off the Manor Adventure and confirm final price as it is dependent on numbers.

In Maths, we have moved on to looking at formal written methods for multiplication. This method is dependent on children knowing their times table facts fluently - please encourage children to use Times Table Rockstars are home to develop their times table knowledge. The problems we have been looking at this week have been tricky but the children have been applying their knowledge really well. We will be moving on to division next week.

In English, we have been writing newspaper articles about the influx of Irish people in the 1840s due to the potato famine. The children have been trying to remember all the different parts of speech punctuation and the structure of a newspaper. There is lots to take in so we will be writing newspaper articles again next week - this time we will be focusing on Liverpool during the Blitz.

I am sure I will have lots more hard work to report on next week!
