7th September

Date: 7th Sep 2016 @ 5:08pm

Hello and welcome back to another school year!

It was great to see all of the children back with lots of things to talk about their summer holidays. Today we did something a little bit different and made up creative excuses for the things we didn't do over the holidays, for example not swimming because the pool turned to mouldy jelly, not being able to go on a roller coaster because a whale jumped out of the ocean and destroyed all of the roller coasters and not being able to learn the alphabet backwards because 'z' had run away! It was a nice activity to get the children thinking imaginatively again and to get practising the basics of their grammar and punctuation which will be so important this year!

The children have also received a new school diary which will hopefully allow them to be more independent and organised; it is similiar to secondary school too and still needs to be seen by someone at home. All of their homework will be noted in the diaries and they will also be using it as their reading diary from next week. This diary also means if you have any questions etc for me they can be written in there; hopefully it will make communication a little easier!

There were lots of letters that went out this afternoon. Rugby, cooking and table tennis are starting soon and replies need to be in. I am also holding a welcome meeting on Thursday 15th September so I can update you on any changes this year and discuss Year 6 expectations. A member of staff from OCA will also be here to meet the children and deliver a short presentation.

Year 6 will be swimming in the final week of this half term and the first week of next half term.

If you have any concerns or questions I am sure we can discuss them at the welcome meeting.

See you all soon,

Miss Hopkins.
