Transition Week

Date: 29th Jun 2017 @ 3:54pm

Despite lots of children being out at their new schools throughout the week, we have still had a busy week in Year 6.

We had some children visiting their schools on other days and the children from Wade Deacon and St Peter and Paul's back in school on Wednesday.

I hope that all of the children have had a fantastic time at their new schools and now feel confident and prepared for their transition.

This week, we have been very busy finishing off some parts of our scenery for Twelfth Night. The children have also discovered Code Club (https://www.codeclub.org.uk/) which is a great website that allows children to complete all sorts of interesting and exciting coding by following a set of instructions. It is challenging but rewarding and it was great to see the children getting so involved!

This week has also been School Sport Week so we have done some research into our class sports personality Michael Phelps and the children produced comic strips about his life. They also did some independent research about a topic of their choice. It was nice to see their presentation skills and their interest levels when they got to choose the topic.

As part of Sport Week, we also got given a sport to focus on and ours was fencing. We did our best to understand the rules of fencing and come up with a way of playing in school (we went for foam javelins). The children found out about fencing and then created their own version which they could teach the Year 4 children. This was really successful and highly enjoyable. Some of our Year 6 children will find out if we were playing by the right rules at all when they try  real fencing on Sunday at residential!

We are all very excited about heading off to Scotland tomorrow for the weekend and we will keep you updated with lots of pictures and Facebook posts!

We have lots coming up over the next few weeks so make sure you keep up to date with everything coming home in a letter or posted on our social media accounts/app.

Until next time,

Mrs Clark!
