Welcome back to our class blog,

I haven't managed to write this week's blog with the help of Year 5 because we have all been very busy. While I was on a very interesting course about teaching maths, Year 5 were working alongside Year 6 to create their very own businesses! It has been very exciting to come back into school today and have all the children wanting to talk to me about what I have missed over the last couple of days.

On Tuesday, the children were set their Master Chef Challenge. Over two days, they had to turn an idea into a business proposal. Their business plan had to include a company name and logo, product plan and image, costings and ingredients, a promotional poster, recipe and research into the history of cupcakes. The children worked together; they had to make all decisions and organise themselves independently. Mrs Boyden and the other staff involved were all very impressed with how the children supported each other and planned their products.

On Wednesday morning, the children were able to produce their cupcakes and came up with some fantastic designs (see the pictures). Our professional cooks were invited in and judged the final products. This resulted in a star rating which affected how much the children were able to charge for their final product. The groups had also designed and created a box for their cupcake.

By the sound of it, it was a brilliant couple of days and the children will complete their project on Friday when they present their business idea to our very own dragons in the All Saints Upton Dragon's Den - we can't wait to find out who gets some investment!

I would just like to say a massive well done to Year 5; you made me very proud of your work and behaviour whilst I was not in! Enjoy your half term holiday because you have worked very hard this half term! I can't believe you are going into your final half term before Year 6!

Have a great week!
