HOME LEARNING

Dear Parents/ Carers,

As your child’s class has had to close, it is essential that you support your child with home learning activities. We will be using Seesaw to communicate with the children and set them daily learning activities. The children have been using this app already and are confident with it so this will ensure we can communicate with the children daily. Unless you are a parent who we have spoken to and made alternative arrangements with, all children will be expected to post copies of the work they have completed each school day.

It is a Government requirement that children continue to learn at home when self-isolating (unless unwell) and therefore it is also a requirement that we follow this up if it is not being done.

How will it all work?

o We will be using Seesaw as our learning platform to set activities for the children.

o The class teacher will set daily curriculum activities of maths, English and one other subject.

o These will be made available by 5pm Sunday to Thursday (in preparation for the next day) and will be found via your child’s Seesaw account within the activities tab.

o The children will complete these activities during the following day. This may involve: reading/listening to a set of instructions; completing a task via Seesaw or completing an activity in their Home Learning books and uploading a photograph to Seesaw, watching a pre-recorded video and completing work set. Please upload these by 9pm. (Any uploaded after 5pm will be ‘liked’ the next day)

o We will ‘like’ all pieces of work returned by the children either on the day it is received or the next morning, to acknowledge that they have been received and reviewed, and comments and feedback may be given.

o Seesaw will be used as a way for us to set activities and the children to respond to them. Please be mindful that it is not meant to be used as a method of communication from parents to class teachers. If you need further support, please contact deputyhead@allsaintsupton.co.uk or call the school office.

If time allows (i.e. self-isolation does not begin during a holiday period) your child will be sent home with a Home Learning book. This should be returned to school at the end of the home learning period and contain all the work that your child has uploaded to Seesaw.

Expectations

o We expect all children to log in by 9.15 am and leave a good morning message. If we do not receive this message a member of our team will be in touch to help sort any issues.

o We expect that all children will access and complete all the set activities. Children may sometimes have different activities to their friends.

o We expect that activities done in the Home Learning books are completed to a high standard of presentation and handwriting is to the same standard that the children would use in their books at school.

On-going Activities

These are additional activities that your child can access to supplement their consolidation of learning.

 o TT Rockstars or Numbots

o Any other Apps recommended by the class teacher

o Continue to read for pleasure using your own books at home

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing all the excellent work that your children will produce. If there are any issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
